| Prerequisite:
JUMPSTART I Perfect for the home "Do It Yourselfer", face frame and
carcass design/construction techniques for kitchen cabinets, vanities, and library
built-ins will be demonstrated. Perform dowel, biscuit, screw pocket and nail gun joinery.
Learn how to saw 4 X 8 sheets safely as well as rabbet and dado hardwood
plywood across the grain without tear-out. An upper and lower kitchen cabinet will be
designed, fabricated, assembled and prepped for finish. Learn how to level and scribe a
cabinet to an uneven wall for a more professional installation. There will be some
hands-on opportunities for the assembly, glue-up, prep and installation. You will make a
1/2 scale knock down upper and lower kitchen cabinet from pre-sized face frame and carcass
materials. Having these knock down models will help assist you in designing cabinets for
your home remodel projects. Also, watch Jerry make a kitchen
cabinet from a piece of plywood and a rough board. Bring a drill (clutch models best) with a magnetic tip holder
and at least one # 2 Phillips bit and a 2 inch to 6 inch
#2 square drive tip. If youre not sure
what these things are, your local hardware store (ie. ACE, TrueValue) should be helpful.
If you own one, also bring your complete Kreg pocket hole system (drill bit, drill,
fixture and clamp), set up and ready to use.
